Deep pockets are normally a good thing....unless you're in the dental chair, that is!
333…323…222…212...have you heard those numbers during your cleaning? Those are the numbers you will hear us record during a Periodontal Charting, in which we measure the pocket depth (in millimeters) around each tooth.
The depth of those pockets will determine whether the gums are healthy or if periodontal disease is present or at risk of developing. We will also look for areas that bleed, have receded, or if any of the teeth have mobility (movement).
Gum disease will not go away on it’s own. If you have gums that are puffy/bleeding, are pulling away from the teeth, a persistent foul taste in your mouth, changes in your bite or permanent teeth that are loose or out of position, call us for an appointment.
